Recipe: Mashed Rutabagas


After the rutabagas have cooked until they are soft, I run them through the food processor for a smooth as silk mash. While they're whirling around, I add the milk, butter, lemon, and seasonings. Now I admit, I add about a half cup of Splenda to mine for a sweeter taste. That's personal, and adds no extra carbs.
Considering mashed potatoes are at least 23g of carbs per serving, this is a significant savings on a day when you *know* you're going to be naughty. Don't give up and be a pig! Save where you can.
